Her Thoughts on Counseling

Humans are flawed, people will make mistake, get emotionally distressed and hence they need someone that can just simply listen and understand their concern. When we are not able to deal with crisis in life and we need emotional healing that is where counseling steps in.

Counseling is simply a process, where the client is provided with a space, where there are no judgements about what they share but just acceptance. It is relationship build up with a counselor where they both can unravel those unresolved emotional conflicts and take a step to empower the client's mind.

It is an aid that can help the client to explore better versions of themselves, reveal inner and the hidden potentials one can have by developing an insight of their psyche.

Why I Chose Counseling?

I chose counseling to provide a support system for people hiding their pain from the world and themselves. I want to be an ear to listen to those aching stories and be a heart that can understand their pain. Furthermore, human nature is fascinating to me and counseling provides an opportunity to explore various facets of it. It is disheartening to see that people can be alone and depressed in a world where there are always connected with each other via social media. It provides satisfaction to me knowing that I can make a small difference in someone's life through counseling.

Therapy Style

I prefer Client Centered Counseling. I believe the therapist must accept the client for who they are and display support and care no matter what the client is facing or experiencing. I believe in giving the client unconditional positive regard and show complete acceptance and support for their clients without casting judgment.

Concerns Close To My Heart

Even counselors have their own emotional baggage that they have to carry. I can empathize with people who self-doubt and do not value themselves for who they are as I have been in a similar place. I have been in that position when everyone around me doubted and questioned my abilities to do something in life. It just hurts when you cannot be yourself and have to prove your worth. I was fortunate to have a friend who supported me through this phase of my life.

Not everybody is fortunate to find a support system in their friends or family. I believe my experiences have equipped me well to help people facing such issues.

How I Handle Stress

I am fond of "Me Time". I prefer to sit with myself at the end of day and develop an insight of what are the conflicts that reside within me and resolve them. I feel nobody knows better than yourself. Along with that, I am blessed with an incredible support system, that is my family and handful of friends. I always believe that if you have surrounded yourself with amazing people and positive vibes, one can easily overcome their obstacles. Apart from that I love to dance and sing, just to make my soul smile and channelize my feelings.
