Counseling is a relationship and a safe space, devoid of judgment, where emotional healing takes place when a client is able to share anything from a small frustration to the biggest challenge they are faced with.
Even as a child when I was completely clueless of what I wanted to do in life, I was certain that I wanted to make a positive impact and it is gratifying to be able to do that now in the field that I am passionate about.
I'm inclined towards client centered therapy as it focuses on developing awareness and enlightenment within the client regarding the challenges they are undergoing by being reflective rather than being directive.
I have worked with an organization called Volunteers for the Blind Foundation which works towards Rehabilitation of the visually challenged individuals. I have been blessed to work with individuals with immense talent, drive and passion. These individuals haven't let their disability become a barrier for achieving their goals hence this cause is close to my heart as it was a learning experience that had a great impact on my perceptions about differently-abled individuals.
1:- By expressing/ venting my feelings to close ones and seeking emotional support from them. It helps me to gain a better perspective regarding the challenge that I am facing.
2:- Another thing that I do on a regular basis is diary writing that helps me to reflect about myself and has worked as a tool for self discovery
