I approach every client with a holistic and eclectic approach-- taking various techniques from Client-Centered, Emotion-Focused, Gestalt, Cognitive Behaviour, Solution-Focused, and Brief Systemic Family Therapy. Her Thoughts on Counseling
We may feel we’re in the eye of the tornado and can’t see clearly, or we may be at crossroads and find ourselves taking the road we don’t want to, or we may just be going through change. Counseling facilitates an individual with the necessary skills and gear to turn any situation into opportunity for growth. It helps them to tap into their strengths, unlearn behaviors that have rendered vain, and therefore unleash a version of themselves that can cope with situations and move into solutions.
Why I Chose Counseling?
I have loved the word ‘heal’ ever since I was a child. To me, this single word stood for hope, determination, effort, will, power, growth, and love. It was beautiful. I was also a very curious child and understanding human behavior & motivation was at the core of my curiosity. I wanted to attain and impart clarity, thereby embodying resource, growth, and kindness. This led me to psychology, a field I’ve now spent more than half a decade falling in love with. Counseling embodies the essence of ‘healing’ and that is why I chose it. No matter who we are or what we’ve gone through, there are people out there who truly want to help us heal. I just knew I had to be one of those people.
I always direct my sessions in a way that facilitates emotional expression because I believe we behave in the world with emotion-tainted glasses. Every emotion acknowledgement, every emotion expression leads the client into shedding away the heaviness of things. The clients find in themselves resiliency and endurance, thereby transforming into the empowered individuals.
